The Border Security Force has taken a strong note of Pakistan cricketer Hasan Ali for “interfering” in the beating retreat ceremony on the Pakistani side.
According to the protocol, the tradition has to be conducted only by the BSF Jawans and the Pakistani Rangers.
During a daily drill performed by the armed forces of India and Pakistan at Attari-Wagah border, Pakistani cricketer, Hasan Ali entered the flag-lowering ceremony from the Pakistani side on Saturday evening and made his signature wicket-taking gesture towards the Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian audience.
Making aggressive gestures towards across the border is nothing new. However, it is against the protocol for a civilian to do so.
In a video clip released, Hasan is seen smiling wearing a red cap. He was later escorted outside the arena by the soldiers.
However, this act did not go well with the Inspector General of the BSF frontier, as he said,
“This is nothing but the violation of the sanctity of parade, and we have lodged a protest with Pakistan Rangers,”
“Anyone can make any aggressive gesture in the viewers’ gallery on both sides, but no public person can interfere in the parade. Before or after the parade, the people are free to do such things, but not in the middle of the parade,”
