Hashim Amla Considering Kolpak Deal: Reports 1

Hashim Amla could be one of those South African players to join the Kolpak exodus, as it has been learnt that the right-handed opening batsman is considering to sign a Kolpak deal, after his failure in England Test series.

He has emerged out as the second star player in the recent days after Morne Morkel, who has been approached by the counties in England.

As per a report in IOL, the change in coaching staff is one of the prime reasons why he is considering to retire from international cricket, as he had a special bonding with outgoing coach Russell Domingo. Though Ottis Gibson is yet to take over as South Africa’s new Head Coach role.

If Amla accepts the offer, then he will join the likes of Kyle Abbot, Rilee Rossouw, David Wiese, Stian van Zyl, Dane Vilas, Merchant de Lange and Colin Ackermann, who have already signed Kolpak in the past few months.

It is to be noted that Amla is already 34-years-old and with the upcoming likes of Aiden Markram in domestic cricket, pressure has been built on him, especially considering his poor form in England. Amla’s absence will have a big impact on the South Africa’s ODI team, as he is the mainstay player in this format of the game and has been tumbling records on regular basis.

He has emerged out as the perfect partner for Quinton de Kock and will leave big shoes to fill if he retires.
