Australia took the advantage on day three of the first Ashes Test as they took early wickets in the second innings before stumps. Australia took 26 runs lead in the first innings courtesy a captain’s knock by Steven Smith who remained unbeaten on 141. Pat Cummins played a handy inning of 42 lower down the order to get the home side to safety as they struggled at one stage. Australia was bowled out for 328 in the first innings. England lost the wickets of Alastair Cook and first innings hero James Vince early on in the first innings. The visitors took a seven runs lead before umpires called it a day. England was 33/2 at stumps.

India Vs SRI LANKA 2017, SECOND TEST, NAGPUR

India had the upper hand in the second Test as they took a lead of 66 runs losing just two wickets of KL Rahul and Murali Vijay. Vijay scored his 10th Test century on his return to the Test side. He was dismissed for 128. Cheteshwar Pujara also went on to score his 14th Test century. India was 283/2 at the time of writing.

Hong Kong Open

PV Sindhu Vs Akane Yamaguchi

PV Sindhu reached the semi-final stage of the Hong Kong Open as she defeated Japanese Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 21-19. She will now face Thai Ratchanok Intanon in the next round.

EUROPEAN GOLDEN SHOE

Lionel Messi received his fourth European Golden Shoe award on Friday but kept mum when asked about his contract renewal with Barcelona. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo now have the same number of Golden Shoe Awards.
