David Warner (178 runs) – The Australian opening batsman made his highest score in the World Cup against Afghanistan in the group stage match in Perth.
A B DeVilliers (162* runs) – West Indies has faced severe flood of runs from this middle order batting maestro during their group stage onslaught in Sydney. DeVilliers came down in the middle order and scored his career best in the World Cups in a very cheeky fashion.
Tilakaratne Dilshan (161* runs) – It was in the group stage encounter against Bangladesh in Melbourne that this Sri Lankan opening batsman smashed his way to make his highest ever score in any World Cup games so far.
Hashim Amla (159 runs) – Ireland has seen the true face of the otherwise silent assassin South African opening batsman Hashim Amla during their group stage match in Canberra. Not only did he score 159 runs, but also he did snatch away the match from the Irish players.
