Top Five Highest Partnerships In ICC T20 World Cup 2010

ICC T20 World Cup 2010 is the third edition of the 20-over format tournament and was hosted by West Indies. Interestingly, this edition took place only 10 months after the last one. Likewise in the last two editions, 12 teams participated in this tournament but Afghanistan was the newcomer in the tournament.
England raised through ranks and lifted the trophy after defeating the arch-rivals Australia in the grand finale of the third edition.
ICC T20 World Cup 2010 witnessed several intense and ferocious innings than the last two editions. The quality of cricket had improved since the first edition.

5. Cameron White and Mike Hussey: 101* vs Sri Lanka
Asked to bowl first, Sri Lanka enjoyed early success as they picked the wickets of Australia’s top-order batsmen Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, David Warner and David Hussey within five overs. However, Cameron White and Mike Hussey crippled Sri Lanka’s bowling attack. The shared 101 runs stand for the sixth wicket and managed to post 168 on board.
Australia made a mockery of Sri Lanka’s batting line up with the likes of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. The Islanders were all out for 87 runs as Michael Clarke led side won the match by 81 runs.
4. Shane Watson and David Warner: 104 runs vs India
In the 15th match of ICC T20 World Cup 2010, India and Australia faced each other. India won the toss and asked Australia to set the target. However, this decision back-fired the MS Dhoni-led side.
Put in to bat first, Australia’s opening pair Shane Watson and David Warner steered Australia to an imposing 184/5, having put on 104 in 10 overs as Watson made 54 and Warner made 72.
Things got off to an inauspicious start for India as openers Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay threw their wickets easily. Subsequently, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina also lost their wicket. India lost that game by a 49 runs margin.
3. Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen: 111 runs vs Australia:
This was the gran-finale match where England batsmen Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen’s partnership became the nightmare for Australia.
Put in to bat first, Australia managed to only score 147 runs at the loss of six wickets. The likes of David Warner, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, and Michael Clark gave their wicket easily.
In reply, Craig and Pietersen build the match-winning innings for England. They mustered 111 runs partnership before the latter lost his wicket for 47 runs. In the end, Eoin Morgan guided the team to lift the trophy as he scored 15* runs.
2. Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt: 142 runs vs Bangladesh
Bangladesh and Pakistan played their first match against each other in the ICC T20 World Cup 2010 tournament at Gros Islet. This was a highly intense match as both teams were strong competitors.
Pakistan’s opening pair Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt began the match with setting up a strong partnership as they fired up boundaries and dismantled Bangladesh’s bowling line up. They together put up 142 runs on the board for the first wicket. With the help of their partnership, Pakistan posted 173 runs target for the Tigers.
Eventually, the Green Army won the match by 21 runs, however, Bangladesh middle-order batsmen Mohammad Ashraful and Shakib Al Hasan mustered 91 runs partnership.
1. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara: 166 runs vs West Indies
Sri Lanka’s top-order batsman Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are the vital cogs for their side. They have set up several partnerships for Lanka at different mega-events. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2010 also, they stitched up a memorable partnership that led Islanders to set up the second-highest total of the tournament.
The explosive batsman Jayawardene crushed West Indies’s bowling attack with his blistering knock of unbeaten 98 runs off 56 balls. He smashed nine fours and four sixes in his innings and set up 166 runs partnership with the skipper Sangakkara who scored 68 off 49 balls. They guided the team to give 196 runs target to Caribbeans.
At last, Sri Lanka defended their target, winning the match by 57 runs.
