Alfred Mann (Australia):
Back in 1977/78’s India tour of Australia, the visitors managed to put on a superb performance in the first innings at Perth as they scored 402 in the first innings. Australia came close and were all-out for 394 while India could only manage to set the hosts a target of 342 in the final innings.
A Mann, the Australian spinner came out to bat at the end of the 4th day and saved his wicket till the next day. He got stuck into the Indian bowlers on the last day as he scored 105 runs to help his side to the target which gave them a 2-0 lead in the 5 match series. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 64 and his innings will go down as one of the best innings by a night watchman.
