EE Hemmings (England):

In the 1982/83 Ashes series in Australia, England put on an impressive performance for their travelling fans. In the final match of the series, England needed a victory to draw level but were set a target of 460 runs in the final innings for victory by the hosts.

Hemmings, who had a decent outing with the ball was sent as a night watchman for the last few overs on day-4 but the England bowler made sure he stayed till the end, even as wickets fell constantly at the other end to score 95 runs in a 4-hour stay at the crease that helped his side save the game. The game ended in a draw as Hemmings ended up with the highest score in the last innings but England lost the series 2-1 in the end.
