Highly Unlikely says Shaun Marsh On His Return To Test Cricket 1

Shaun Marsh has been brilliant for the team in his stint over the years. However, of late, he lost a few of his skills in Test cricket, which he seems that would be the end of him in the longer format at least for the upcoming Ashes Trophy 2019-20.

The flamboyant batsman was a force to reckon when he played in the bilateral series, where he did extremely well. In the absence of David Warner and Steve Smith, Cricket Australia has given him enough chances to cement his place in the national team.

His poor form in the Test cricket has seen him being out of the team for the series against Sri Lanka. Shaun Marsh, himself, admits that he failed to make things fall in place for the team and doesn’t deserve to be in the team for the Ashes Trophy.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me – Shaun Marsh

Shaun Marsh believes that the youngsters have done reasonably well in the series against Sri Lanka. Apart from that, he understands that the board have given him enough opportunities to prove time and time again but failed to do the job.

“It is highly unlikely now with the guys coming in and performing how they did against Sri Lanka,” Marsh told The Courier Mail. “I had a crack at it. They gave me every opportunity to get it right over the last 12 months after the Ashes when I played really well.”

“Unfortunately, it did not work out for me but the guys who came in did well and probably deserved a crack at the (2019) Ashes,” he said. I just did not have that throughout my career. Look, I am still really proud of what I achieved. I played Tests for my country and played in some wonderful series wins. There were some lows, but also some great highs which I will cherish forever.”

Marsh has featured in just 37 Tests since 2011 due to poor form and injury. However, it is nice to see a player understanding the present situation and working his way to make things right. Despite Test cricket, he is a key member for Australia in the limited overs setup.
