Holidaying in Belgrade, N Srinivasan is slack about the Lodha Committee verdict
In less 30 hours, the Lodha Committee will pronounce the verdict on his franchise Chennai Super Kings and son-in-law but N Srinivasan remained unfazed about the verdict. He is holidaying with somewhere in Belgrade and refused to talk about the future of Chennai Super Kings and Gurunath Meiyappan.
“The verdict is not about me. I am out of the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI). I am focusing on international cricket and business of cement. My guide is showing me some picturesque sites of Belgrade. Let me go,” Srinivasan told.
However, the ICC boss can’t avoid questions too long. The Merylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has invited him to give a talk about the game at its annual World Cricket Committee meeting at Lord’s on Monday (today) and there will be a session dedicated for Q-&-A. So. It is likely that English journalists will raise the issue during that session.
While Srinivasan seemed untouched by the verdict, his supporters are expected that the judgment will be positive for them. “The Apex court had said that Srinivasan can resume his normal BCCI functions after six months or after the Lodha Committee verdict whichever is later. He has already given up stake in the Chennai Super Kings team. So, the pronouncement of the sentence means he can start attending the BCCI meeting,” a confidant of Srinivasan said.
But, BCCI members, however, have a different view. They say the Lodha Committee’s report on CSK’s share transfer is yet to finish. So, “he can resume or not is a premature question,” said a BCCI lawyer. Meanwhile, the Lodha Committee has asked the lawyers of all four concerned parties-CSK, Rajasthan Royals, Meiyappan and Raj Kundra-to be present at 1 pm at India Habtat Centre in New Delhi on Tuesday. The lawyers will be handed the copies of the verdict.
