Usually, opposing teams often hope that their biggest threat is nullified by hook or by crook. The injury to James Anderson and him missing the Boxing Day test in Durban should have been positive news for South Africa. However, Proteas pacer Morne Morkel has displayed the zeal of a true sportsman, when he recently said that the injury to James Anderson would be a loss not just to England, but the entire sport.

“That’s a big blow for the series if he doesn’t play,” said Morne Morkel. “We want the best for this summer. If Jimmy is fit, it’s great for cricket. “I have got a lot of respect for Jimmy. His skill with the ball is quality. I really hope he is fit to showcase that.”

Morkel also discussed the issue regarding the fitness of South African bowling spearhead Dale Steyn. “Dale has got a bit of sideline fever and he is ready to go,” Morkel said. “He has really worked hard. You can just see the venom he has been bowling within the nets today and it’s exciting. There’s been a lot said about him on social media and off the field and he will be ready to prove a point.”
