The Big 3
In 2014 ICC made constitutional changes to let the three giants ECB (England), CA (Australia), and BCCI (India) to enjoy the lions pie of the ICC’s annual profit. They also made the ICC an institution of mockery as other 106 members of ICC were deprived of getting a share of the profit for development work of cricket in their countries.
But as Shashank Manohar replaced tainted BCCI and ICC president N. Srinivasan at BCCI, ICC opposed the Big Three system. After being elected as BCCI president by default he became the ICC president.
In November, Manohar said, “I don’t agree with the three major countries’ bullying the I.C.C.,” declaring, “you cannot make the poor poorer and the rich richer, only because you have the clout. The I.C.C. runs cricket throughout the world.”
But he changed the resolution of ICC and later in the president election he anonymously becomes the independent president of ICC.
Now he no more represents BCCI or any other country so it will allow him to focus on development work without any hesitation.
