In a watershed moment, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), at its special general body meeting at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Sunday (July 2), unanimously adopted all the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee panel on reforms. It has also decided to implement the judgement of the Supreme Court in CA No. 4235/14, dated 18-7-2016 in letter and spirit.

Speaking to The Indian Express, HCA secretary T Shesh Narayan confirmed the news and said the association has already sent emails to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators. The Supreme Court had ordered the BCCI to not disburse funds to the state associations until they adopt the Lodha panel recommendations and the HCA is now accepting the funds. Vidarbha Cricket Association is the only association to have become eligible for funds after making necessary changes. Tripura has also followed suit, but its case is being assessed.
“We have already sent emails to the committee of administrators (CoA) and the BCCI, showing HCA’s conformity to the Supreme Court order. We are expecting the release of funds very soon,” T Shesh Narayan said.
The HCA secretary further said that a copy of the amended constitution will be sent to BCCI for scrutiny in the coming week. He also said that the process should be complete by 14 of this month.
A release from the association stated that only four out of the 155 members attending the meeting had objected to the amendments.
“RM Bhaskar, S Venkateshwaran, Ajmal Asad, C Babu Rao objected that the meeting and amendments cannot be conducted and contended that Supreme Court may review its own orders. However, rejecting the same, the President (G Vivekanand) read entire minutes appraising the members.
The Special General Body unanimously adopted all the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee reforms and implemented the judgement of the Supreme Court in CA No. 4235/14, dated 18-7-2016 in its letter and spirit in toto,” the statement read.
