'Hyderabad Will Host India-Bangladesh Test' 1

Putting an end to all the speculations that Hyderabad will be unable to host the one-off Test between India and Bangladesh next month, the Hyderabad Cricket Association secretary K John Manoj, on Monday, has said the Test will go ahead as scheduled.

Interacting with the Press Trust of India, Manoj said:“Let me set the record straight that HCA has never ever shown reluctance to host the Test. We are issuing tender notice for in stadia advertisement today. Also we are set to sign a deal with TCM (Twenty First Century Media) within a day or two. I don’t know who spread all these rumours.”

Like most other state associations, the HCA too is in turmoil following the Supreme Court’s verdict. The HCA will be asking the BCCI for the funds which in turn will ask the Lodha panel to help release funds for meeting the expenses.

When asked whether the funds are the reasons behind the rumor, he said: “Every association needs clearance from Supreme Court and everyone has got allocated funds cleared by Apex Court. Did any of the Test matches stop. And let me tell you we have organised for enough funds to host the Test match which will procure through in stadia rights.”

He further said the state association is also ready to welcome Bangladesh a week before the scheduled arrival to play a warm-up game.

“In fact Bangladesh wants to come a week early for practice match. We have enough funds for that also. Therefore I believe it is some BCCI officials, who probably are disqualified, want to spread baseless rumours. So I put it again: Hyderabad is hosting the Test match,” Manoj concluded.

Meanwhile, media reports are suggesting that Eden Gardens has been put on standby if Hyderabad fails to host the match due to any reason. A final decision will be taken only after January 19, when the Supreme Court appoints a three-member committee to run the BCCI.
