The premier fast bowler of the world Dale Steyn who plays his club cricket for the Sunrisers Hyderabad expressed his fondness towards India’s erratic quickie Umesh Yadav.
Yadav who ranked 3rd by picking 18 wickets in the CWC15 only behind Starc and Boult plays for Kolkata Knight Riders and Steyn felt that he has a lot of similarities with the Indian fast bowler with respect to height and built and that Yadav who might be stronger than Steyn also swings the ball.
He added that Yadav because of his action and pace will be a great Test bowler and a player to look out for in the future. The speedster who was impressed by MSD’s captaincy said that Dhoni had a lot to do with the team reaching the semi final in a country when they couldn’t win a single match till the start of the cup.
Steyn who added that the Indian attack was more balanced felt that Ishant who missed out of the World Cup due to injury is not the first fast bowler to be injured and that his height and the appetite for the game will bring him back even stronger than ever.
Steyn who is 32 said that age was just a number to him and that his 11 year experience in national cricket will help him become a mentor in the years to come. Steyn was also happy that the Indian bowlers who he played alongside learnt a lot from him and went on to become influential players in their respective teams.
