Want to be a professional cricketer?
It is obvious that when a far better team like India, led by MS Dhoni loses two ODIs consecutively against Bangladesh, the captain has to face the heat. In fact, his personal performance as a batsman has not been very impressive. The performance of Team India during tour of Australia was also not up to the mark. Thereafter, ouster from the World Cup in the semis also provided a chance to the critics. So, India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is facing fire from every corner has, in a rather sarcastic tone said that if his removal from captaincy can help Indian cricket move forward in right direction, then he is game for it.
He said I am always the one who is responsible for anything bad that happens in Indian cricket. Everything that happens is because of me. Even the Bangladesh media is smiling. Dhoni gave a befitted reply to a question at the post-match press conference about how much responsibility of this series loss lies with him.
However, when the similar question was thrown differently about how long he would continue as captain, he insisted that he would continue but not before taking a dig at the scribe. He said I am really enjoying my cricket. But when the earlier question was asked, I knew this question was coming. These questions always popping me. The media loves me. If it is justifiable if you remove me and the Indian cricket will start doing well, and if I am the reason for all the bad that’s happening to Indian cricket, definitely I would love to step away and play as a player.
He further added It doesn’t really matter, who is the captain because I was never really in line to become the captain. It was a job or responsibility for me. They want to take it away from me, I am fine. Although despite having a very capable team under his direction, Team India is lacking consistency and more importantly the teamwork. But, given the rich experience of Dhoni, there is a general perception that he should lead the side at least till the next world cup.
