Ahead of this year’s much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan’s latest pace sensation Ihsanullah has said that he could fire his team to glory. The marquee 50-over event is scheduled to be held in India this year and Pakistan will definitely be one of the contenders for the title.
The Men in Green have not won the World Cup since clinching their maiden title way back in 1992. Since then, they have made it to the final just once in 1999 and are still looking to win their second World Cup title. In the last edition of the competition played in England in 2019, they failed to progress ahead of the league stage in the 10-team competition.
And while time will tell how Pakistan perform in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, Ihsanullah is confident he can power his team to a historic triumph in India. The 20-year old, who has the ability to bowl constantly over 150 kmph, announced his arrival to the cricket world by starring in this year’s Pakistan Super League. Playing for Multan Sultans, he finished the season as the second-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets to his name.
“I want to help Pakistan win, it would give me immense happiness,” Ihsanullah was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
It would be interesting to see whether Pakistan include him in their World Cup squad or not. Ihsanullah could turn out to be an x factor for the team thanks to his extreme pace. He has already made his debut for Pakistan and has played 4 T20Is so far. The fast-bowler has also played one ODI.
Pakistan could miss ICC World Cup 2023:
Meanwhile, there is a slight possibility that Pakistan might miss the upcoming ICC World Cup due to the ongoing stand between PCB and BCCI over the Asia Cup venue. While Pakistan have the hosting rights for the competition, India have made it clear that they will not visit their neighbors due to the poor bilateral relation between the two countries. The PCB has threatened to boycott the World Cup in response to India’s stand.
