India is currently playing the second Test match against South Africa in Pune ground. The Indian bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami have been seen to be dominant in the field. The Proteas are finding difficult to set them on the field.

On the third day, Indian pacers bowled at the right areas and sent the top order and middle-order batsmen early to the pavilion. South Africa’s lower-order batsmen Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander set strong partnership for the ninth wicket. Pacers were finding difficult to take the wicket of the duo. Spinner Ashwin was successful to break the partnership with taking the wicket of Keshav Maharaj.

Ashwin took four wickets including the Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis who scored a half-century. He bowled 28.4 overs in which 9 were maiden overs. The spinner is playing after a long time in the Indian team. After the end of the third day of the second Test match, Ashwin expresses that he is delightful to bowl again for the team.

“I don’t get frustrated and don’t want to get frustrated either as I am happy to be bowling again. Whoever bats again, I am happy to keep bowling at them,” Ashwin said.

It’s a myth about tail-enders: Ashwin

South Africa’s lower batsmen were more effective on the third day of the second Test match. Ashwin opines that it is all myth that tail-enders can not score runs. He praises the batting of Philander who scored 44* runs. Philander was playing with a defensive technique, he opines.

“I think the myth of tail-enders is over-stated and when someone bats well, he bats well. Nowadays, nobody is really a mug with the bat. In our team also, everybody bats pretty well till No 11,” he said.

“As I said, it is a good pitch and Philander batted beautifully. His defensive technique to spin and fast bowling was wonderful. He played with soft hands and the bat face was slightly running down,” Ashwin said.
