After the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the Head Coach of Indian cricket team, the pressure is right upon the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, as it is no hidden fact that Shastri is the favourite man of Virat and the skipper needed him in the backroom staff.

Kohli has been given what he wanted and now it’s the time to deliver the result. If the team is able to turn the tide in their favour on the foreign tours, then praises will galore for this pair, whereas, critics will tear apart them if the results are not in their favour.
Team India has landed for their first challenge against Sri Lanka and unlike last time, the team would like to fully dominate the opposition and decimate them. The task will not be easy and it will be a difficult job for India, who lost the first Test in 2015.

Amidst this scenario of expectations and all, Gautam Gambhir feels that there will be no external pressure on Virat Kohli regarding the recent appointment of coach,
“I don’t think there will be external pressure on Virat. The coach has been appointed. The support staff is largely the same. If this controversy had lingered on it could have been a distraction. Now it should not. The series is about to get underway. You have gone there to play as a cricketer. Who should be appointed is not your job. Your focus is on cricket,” he told India Today.
“It’s done and dusted and the appointment has been made. Irrespective of whether Anil Kumble is the coach or Ravi Shastri, what’s more, important is that India wins. After all the coaches performance is not analyzed, the team’s performance is,” the left-handed batsman added.

Team India had a tremendous record under Kumble’s term and he has left big boots to fill. It is to be noted that team India had mixed results when Shastri was the Director of the Indian team. India lost a home T20I and ODI series to South Africa and also lost to Bangladesh in an ODI series before that. Shastri will too have the pressure to keep the level of the team high.
Though he has an advantage this time, as Virat Kohli is the full-time skipper in all the formats, which will have a big impact. The camaraderie between the two is expected to do wonders for team India. They both have a big responsibility on their shoulders and a task which they have to fulfil to achieve the long term plans for India.
