The Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who was called in the side as a replacement for injured Mitchell Starc during the Border-Gavaskar trophy, said he enjoyed the challenge against the India opener KL Rahul the most, whom he rates as a confident batsman.
”I enjoyed the challenge against KL Rahul. He is a confident batsman and can take the game on. I am looking forward to the challenge again.”
KL Rahul, who played all the four Test matches despite an issue in his shoulder, scored a total of 393 runs in the series with six half-centuries. Meanwhile, Cummins, who played the last two matches of the series also impressed with the ball, as the 23-year old pacer bowled a total of 39 overs in the game, despite owing a reputation of getting injured during long spells.
He continued his great form in the Dharamsala Test as he was generating extra bounce from the deck and made Dharamsala look like Perth. However, Australia lost the game and the four-Test match series by a margin of 2-1.
It is to be noted that earlier, KL Rahul had also praised Cummins and called his spell as the toughest,
“Josh and Cummins in the first session I can say it’s the toughest session I’ve faced in Test cricket so far,” Rahul had said.
However, Cummins desire to bowl to Rahul in IPL will not be fulfilled as the Royal Challengers Bangalore opener has been ruled out of the T20 league due to a shoulder injury, and will be flying to London for a surgery. There is still no clarity over the fact whether Rahul will be part of the team for the Champions Trophy or not?
The tenth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) starts from April 5 with the first game to be played between defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and finalist of last year Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
