Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan disclosed an interesting event during his childhood. Surprisingly, he had to hide from his family for about 3-4 months–and also revealed he got a tattoo without his father’s permission which led him to go through an HIV test.

Dhawan, who has come a long way to play for India, divulged an important incident during his childhood when he went to Manali to get a tattoo on his back without the concern of his family, which eventually led him to be out of his home.

“When I was 14-15 years old, I had gone to Manali and got a tattoo done on my back without informing my family members.  I had to hide it for quite some time, about 3-4 months, and then when my father got to know, he beat me. I got a bit scared after doing the tattoo because I had no clue about the number of bodies that needle had pierced. So then I went and did my HIV Test and it’s negative to date (laughs),” Dhawan said.

Shikhar Dhawan fell out of favour with the Indian team, due to his poor form and the emergence of Shubman Gill as an all-format opener for India. Dhawan last turned out for India during their tour of Bangladesh where he scored only 18 runs in three matches.

Moreover, Dhawan will look to impress the selectors in IPL 2023 to put in one last dance in Indian colours.

Shubman Gill Is Performing Really Well – Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan lauded young opener Gill for his terrific performance in International cricket, stating that he had done very well in limited opportunities for India. The 23-year-old will play for the defending champions–Gujarat Titans in the sixteenth edition of the IPL.

“I am not looking at this as a high or low. It’s a natural phase. Every career has a shelf life. Shubman Gill has replaced me now and is performing really well. I did not do well in a couple of series,” Dhawan added.

Shubman Gill has been enjoying some form in 2023 –and has done a fine job as an opener along with Rohit Sharma.

Besides, many fans and cricket pundits expect Gill to be the next superstar in Indian cricket.
