I Have Been Sledged By Sachin Tendulkar: Glenn McGrath 1

In the era gone by, India’s greatest cricket ever, Sachin Tendulkar shared fierce rivalries with quite a few legendary bowlers. These rivalries often got the best out of Sachin, as the Little Master always looked to dominate and get on top of the bowlers at any given point of time. But the one rivalry, that was cherished the most of the past era, was definitely between Sachin and Australia’s greatest pacer, Glenn McGrath.

McGrath and Tendulkar were born champions as the duo enriched the sport colossally with their presence. Against each other though, both went through mixed success as both had equal success over one another.

Speaking about their epic rivalry, McGrath recently admitted that he was once sledged by Tendulkar. The pace bowling legend recalled that incident at a recent media event.

“I have been sledged by Sachin Tendulkar,” said McGrath. “Every team in the world sledges. But when the Aussies do it, it makes news. When the other teams sledge against us, we keep quiet. The moment the Australians are at it, the others are quick to complain.”

The New South Wales legend added Kangaroos play the sport with a lot of passion.

“The Australian way is very upfront. We play our cricket with a lot of passion. We say a few things on the field but all is forgotten as we walk off it. It’s a part of Australian culture.”

When quizzed about who was the “worst” sledger in the Australian setup, McGrath was quick to point out at Matthew Hayden.

“Matthew Hayden was probably the worst. But he was nicely hidden fielding at gully,” HE CONCLUDED.
