Australia’s talisman batsman Steven Smith believes Indian captain Virat Kohli will break more records in the time to come. Kohli is one of the most consistent batsmen in the world across all the three forms of the game. The right-hander has already broken a plethora of records and he is all set to break many. Kohli was awarded the Man of the series against Australia as he scored 183 runs in the three matches.

The Indian captain became the fastest skipper to score 5000 ODI runs as he got to the landmark in just 82 innings. The linchpin batsman has delivered the goods in almost every condition and his appetite for runs is just unparalleled.

Kohli is the best across all three formats.

Steven Smith said as quoted by IANS, “Yeah, he is terrific. His batting numbers just speak for themselves. I think he’s an incredible player in all three formats and I think we will see him break many records. He’s already broken plenty of them and I see him breaking many more over the years. He has got the hunger for runs and doesn’t stop getting them. Hopefully, he can stop getting them against Australia, that’ll be nice.

Furthermore, Kohli has also led India with aplomb and his men are currently placed at the numero uno position in ICC Test rankings. Kohli has given special importance to fitness and he always asks his men to give more than their 100% on the field.

“As a captain, he’s already made India the number one side in the world in Test cricket. From what I have seen he sets really good standards for them. He is a lot about fitness and is health-conscious and things like that. He’s got the Indian side into a really good place and leads them exceptionally well,” the 30-year-old pointed.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is not only winning hearts with his performances but also for his sportsmanship. Kohli was awarded the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ award by the ICC for stopping the Indian crowd from booing Steven Smith in the World Cup league match against Australia.

“In the World Cup, it was really nice of Virat to do what he did. He did not have to do that and yeah it was a lovely gesture and really appreciated that” he smiled.

Smith and Kohli are currently the best batsmen in the game and it is always fascinating to see both of them battle it out for the top position.
