All the Indian Cricket fans still remember the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2007 as one of the deadliest nightmares in the history of the game. As a matter of fact, it was perhaps India’s worst World Cup tournament so far. Recently, Sachin Tendulkar spoke off the matter and he admitted of the fact that he wanted to retire from international cricket after India’s disastrous performance in the 2007 World Cup.

India lost to Bangladesh in their opening encounter which is regarded as one of the most terrible upsets of the World Cup tournament. In that particular edition of the World Cup, India managed to beat Bermuda only and lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and as a result of which they were eliminated in the group stages of the tournament.

India had faced intense troubles in their batting and the entire batting line up of the team were criticized for their lack of form. Even Sachin faced criticism to a considerable extent. He managed to score 7 runs in the match against Bangladesh while he was dismissed for a duck against Sri Lanka in that World Cup.

Sachin said that after his return to India after the World Cup elimination, he thought of taking retirement from international cricket and almost made up his mind for that. It was his brother, Ajit Tendulkar, who asked him not to retire and play till the 2011 World Cup as it was going to be hosted by India itself. Sachin listened to his brother’s words and the rest is history as we all know.

Sachin admitted that after the World Cup final at the Wankhede stadium on the 2nd April, 2011 tears came out of his eyes in sheer joy. It was like a dream come true for him. He played a total of six World Cup tournaments in his career and that was the first taste of success. He also stated that the win against Australia in the quarter final of the 2011 World Cup was one of the most special victories of his World Cup career.
