Todd Murphy has been one of the very few positives for Australia in the ongoing first Test against Team India so far. While the visitors have been firmly on the backfoot after the first two days of the game, Todd Murphy has announced his arrival in international cricket with a fine five-wicket haul.
On the first day of the Test, he gave his team the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing KL Rahul. On the second day, the debutant went on to become the youngest Australian to take a 5-wicket haul. The off-spinner ran through India’s top-order to give his team a glimmer of hope.
On the second day, he dismissed Ravichandran Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and KS Bharat. India, however, managed to recover from the setbacks provided by the young spinner thanks to a century from skipper Rohit Sharma and fifties from Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

At stumps on day 2, the hosts were comfortably placed at 321 for 7 with Jadeja and Axar unbeaten. Earlier in the game, India had bowled out the visitors for just 177.
Todd Murphy reacts to dismissing Virat Kohli:
Speaking at the end of day’s play, Todd Murphy expressed his delight over the feat he achieved on his debut before saying that dismissing Virat Kohli was a dream come true moment for him. Kohli was dismissed when he wanted to flick a delivery down the leg side but ended up edging it to ‘keeper Alex Carey.
Todd Murphy acknowledged that the ball was not a very good one, but said that the wicket will remain with him forever.
“The one that got Virat out. It wasn’t my best ball of the day,” Todd Murphy told the host broadcaster about his favourite wicket.

“It was a dream come true moment for me to get Virat Kohli’s wicket. I watched him for so long. He is a hero for so many guys, it’ll be with me forever.
“Coming into the game, I was sort of hoping to get one wicket at least. To finish the day with five on debut is a special day. It’s been a pretty surreal week, it’s all happened quite fast,” the youngster added.
