I Will Be The Happiest Man To Play Under MS Dhoni – Mohammad Saifuddin
Mohammad Saifuddin was one of the major positives for the Bangladesh team during the ICC World Cup 2019. The all-rounder displayed his skills by knocking the ball out of the park down the order and bowled sensational spells for his side to win those particular moments for the team. Meanwhile, he wishes to play under MS Dhoni in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Bangladesh was 179 for six when Mohammad Saifuddin walked out to bat against India, with 136 more runs to get and his team fighting to stay alive in the World Cup. Bangladesh’s hopes had faded with the fall of Shakib Al Hasan for 66, but the team’s No. 8 batsman came out fighting and gave India, which was coasting, a proper scare.
I wish to be admired like Shakib – Mohammad Saifuddin
Meanwhile, speaking of his desire to play in Indian Premier League, Mohammad Saifuddin quoted that he would love to play under Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings. If not for CSK, he would love to be part of Kolkata Knight Riders, where Shakib Al Hasan did brilliantly during his initial days.
“I will be the happiest playing under Dhoni. Otherwise, for my favourite city Kolkata. I wish to be loved and admired like Shakib in this part of Bengal,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika – a renowned Bengali news daily in Kolkata.
I tried to decipher the reasons behind MS Dhoni’s success:
The left-handed batsman hit a total of nine fours and his ability to find gaps on the field particularly stood out over the course of his 38-ball knock. Even Jasprit Bumrah, who bowls consistently at the death, wasn’t spared. Saifuddin smashed a blockhole delivery on the stumps from Bumrah for a four down the ground, to get to his maiden ODI half-century.
“From my childhood, I tried to decipher the reasons behind Dhoni’s success in cricket. He gives some sort of a signal to the bowlers from behind the wickets with his hands and fingers. At the time of batting against India, before every delivery, I used to have a glance at Dhoni, trying to figure out his signals.
”He was putting his hands on his chest when Hardik (Pandya) was bowling. The next ball was a bouncer and then I figured out that it was for a short ball. Sometimes, I noticed that he pointed towards the toes and the next ball was a yorker. By doing so, he tries to distract the batters,” he added.
However, it was an innings that couldn’t take Bangladesh over the line, predominantly because Saifuddin ran out of partners, but his innings had both India worried and took Bangladesh much closer to the target, going down by just 28 runs in the end. Perhaps, a contract is on its way for Mohammad Saifuddin, who got all-around skills.
