India’s southpaw batsman Gautam Gambhir said he will retire when there will be no emotions. Gambhir said that if he keeps scoring runs, it makes him happy. In fact, Gautam Gambhir has been in sublime form with the bat in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Meanwhile, Gambhir celebrated his 37th birthday in style when he scored a quickfire hundred while playing against Haryana in the quarterfinal clash.

It is well known that Gautam Gambhir is the man of the big finals. The southpaw batsman had scored a fine 75 in the final of the World T20 in 2007. Furthermore, the talisman left-hander had scored a majestic 97 in the final of the World Cup in 2011.

Gambhir talks about the satisfaction of scoring the truckload of runs.

“No, till the time I keep scoring runs, that makes me happy. You keep doing it. I think scoring runs, winning, coming back to the dressing room happy, being in the winning environment makes me happy,” Gautam Gambhir said to Outlook over the phone from Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir believes he will continue to play the game as long as he has the passion. The Delhi veteran batsman wants to be part of the happy dressing room.

“Till the time I have that passion in me, where I want to come back to a happy dressing room, I want to be a part of that happy environment — I am going to keep going, and the day I feel that there are no emotions involved in it then I would think it’s time to go,” he added to his lines.

Gautam Gambhir has had a fine career. However, his return to the Indian side looks unlikely. Meanwhile, the southpaw batsman will like to continue as long as he is enjoying the game. Gambhir is currently leading Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and Delhi will take on Jharkhand in the second semifinal on 18 October.
