Ian Bell Keen To Make International Return, Says He Has Unfinished Business With England
Discarded England batsman Ian Bell has come out of his introvert shell and said he is eyeing an International return after being left out of the Tests squad for over an year now. The right-handed batsman has admitted that he has some unfinished business left with the England team.
Talking about his omission from the Tests line-up, Bell said he was ignored for the South African series early last year and was tough for him to sit back home and cheer his side. The 34-year-old also said he missed being on the field and that he also had a word Andrew Strauss and captain Alastair Cook about his chances of making a comeback.
“For me personally, I had some major question marks over whether I wanted to carry on and do the travelling. I then missed the tour to South Africa, I can honestly say that when I sat at home watching the boys out there I completely missed it. I knew from that day that there is still unfinished business.”
Ian Bell, who has played over 100 Tests (118) said he’s been lucky to play for England for around a decade and still believes in making a return before pampering retirement thoughts. Bell also back his domestic performance to crawl his way back into the side.
“I’ve been lucky to have a long career but I knew then I answered the questions and I had a talk with Straussy, myself and he gave me some really good advice. But I know for a fact now that I want to get home, I want score my runs, win games of Cricket for Warwickshire and like I said hopefully that is good enough to get me on a tour or get me back in the squad. But my dream is to play again.”
Ian Bell last played for England was in November 2015, during the Test series in UAE.
