The all-time legendary Windies cricketer Ian Bishop picked his best XI in the ODI format of the game. His list comprises of the modern-day greats and also had a good balance that can beat any side on their day.
In total, Ian Bishop picked 4 Indian cricketers, a couple of Windies players, South African players and the Pakistan players. Surprisingly, he hasn’t picked a single English player and also chose only one Australian cricketer.
Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma to open:
The stalwart player of the Indian cricket Sachin Tendulkar will be opening the innings alongside the other opening batsman of India Rohit Sharma. The duo will be opening Ian Bishop’s team.
“I have an opening pair from the same country. Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar. Rohit can become a modern day great. He can forge a real great partnership with Sachin,” Bishop said in a video for ICC.
At number 3, he picked his dear friend Sir Vivian Richards, who has been sensational for Windies during his times. Ian Bishop believes that Richards got the capability to tear any opposition apart on his day.
The number 4 batsman for his side is the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The flamboyant cricketer believes that there is no one who can come close to the Indian skipper at present. Following him, he picked AB de Villiers at number 5 for the team.
MS Dhoni, Lance Klusener is finishers – Ian Bishop
One of the major surprises is the all-rounder spot. He picked Lance Klusener over the South African’s best Jacques Kallis, India’s Kapil Dev and Pakistan’s Imran Khan. The flamboyant batsman feels that he is the greatest finisher.
Following him, Ian Bishop asked Mahendra Singh Dhoni to do the wicketkeeper job for the team. He believes that Dhoni can give the nightmares to any bowler on his day.
“Average of 50, wicket keeper, great finisher and along with Klusener, Dhoni can give nightmares to bowlers,” Bishop said.
Wasim Akram, West Indies’ Joel Garner and Australia’s Glenn McGrath were Bishop’s seamers in his all-time ODI XI. McGrath incidentally was the only Australian in Bishop’s side.
Ian Bishop’s all-time ODI XI:
