ICC Champions Trophy 2017 – Coach Helped Me After India Game, Says Hasan Ali

This ICC Champions Trophy has been all about the brilliance of a shy youngster from the streets of Gujranwala, Hasan Ali. Making his debut for Pakistan not too long ago, the right arm pacer has quickly emerged as the most impressive bowler for his team. More than just impressing with his outings, Ali has been a genuine wicket taker for the side and whenever the team has been in need of quick wickets, the captain has turned towards Ali.
The pacer, however, didn’t start this tournament on a positive note as in the opening game against India, he was taken to the cleaners by Yuvraj Singh. During the death overs, Ali was hammered and it seemed that could potentially dent his confidence.
Things changed quickly as he won the Man of the Match against South Africa and impressed against Sri Lanka too. Now in the all-important semi-final, he was on absolute fire, as his bowling exploits helped Pakistan stun England in front of a jam-packed Cardiff.
Thanks to Ali’s heroics, Pakistan now have qualified for the finals. Post winning the Man of the Match award in the semi-final, Ali admitted that working with bowling coach Azhar Mehmood was quite helpful for him.
“England are a big team and we have bowled well. The way I bowled against South Africa, I tried to bowl the same way today,” said Ali.
“Against India, things did not go well in the last few overs but Azhar Mahmood helped me and I stuck to my plans. Eoin Morgan was my best wicket today. It’s my brother’s birthday tomorrow, so I dedicate this award to him,” the pacer said.
