The veteran Sri Lanka pacer will be 37 when the next edition of the tournament commences. One of best limited-overs bowlers in his prime, the right-arm pacer played an integral role in Sri Lanka’s dominant performances in ICC tournaments between 2007 and 2014 when they made it two World Cup finals and three World T20 finals, winning one World T20 title in 2014.

However, since 2014, Malinga’s career has been plagued with several injuries and the fact that his last One-Day international appearance came in 2015, it is quite clear that Malinga won’t be able to sustain the rigours of international cricket for a long period of time.

He has been picked in the Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy and would be keen to do well, as it is highly likely that this might be his last Champions Trophy.
