The game between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was more like a mutual helping society, will both sides giving each other some really easy chances to storm back into the game. Ultimately, in the classical Asian rivalry, it was Pakistan who edged through in an absolute thriller to clinch the all important semi final slot. Pakistan now will lock horns with hosts England at this very ground on Wednesday, in what promises to be a thrilling affair already.

This contest however, can be termed as a comical affair to say the least, given how each team messed up easy opportunities. Throughout the game and the chase especially, Cardiff was a host to extremely sloppy catching and fielding, where all basics of the game were taken for a toss. In the battle of the two comical teams, it was the less comical one which managed to get through.

For Pakistan though, the team is indebted to the calmness of their skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Chasing a mediocre 237, Pakistan were well placed at 74-1, before that score turned into 137-6. Needing 75 to win and just three wickets in hand, Mohammad Amir joined forces with his captain to script a memorable win for Pakistan.

Despite Ahmed being dropped twice, he made the most of his chances and registered an unbeaten half century to get his team through. Amir was unbeaten on 28 as well, as he played an ideal support role. Fans on Twitter went wild throughout the game and below are some of the tweets.
