2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Twitter Reacts As India Barge Into Champions Trophy Finals
Nov 2, 2023 at 3:38 PM
If Pakistan had any momentum going into the final, all that would now be futile, thanks to an ever classy batting performance from team India.
Needing a moderate 265 to win, the Indian top three made this target look like a walk in the park, as the side got home without breaking a sweat. Chasing the target well in advance, 59 balls prior to be precise, it was such a dominant batting display from India, that the Bangladesh bowlers didnโt stand any chance.
The chase commenced quite positively for India, as Shikhar Dhawan continued his super rich vein of form. During his quickfire knock of 46, Dhawan went past Sourav Gangulyโs tally of 665 runs and became the leading Indian run-getter in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Despite losing Dhawan, Rohit didnโt get bothered a bit and went on his rampage. He was joined by skipper Virat Kohli, who seemed in a universe of his own. The way and elegance with which Kohli was striking the ball, it was evident that the Indian captain was on a mission of his own. En route the chase, Sharma registered a superb century, and this was his second ton in an ICC event knockout game.
With the win, Kohli remained unbeaten on 96, as India wrapped things up in style. Fans on Twitter lauded the team for barging into the finals and below are some of the tweets.
