ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Scotland captain says best time

Preston Mommsen, Scotland skipper said now was a “good time” to play England as his team is ready for an International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2015 fight against their rivals on Monday in Christchurch.

On Friday England faced an insulting 8 wicket defeat by Black Caps, leaving them base of Pool A following an vehement 111 runs loss to the other co-hosts Australia in their tournament opener in Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Scotland were also defeated by Black Caps in their only game of the ICC World Cup so far, but defeated by just 3 wickets and got 142 runs compared to England’s 123 runs against the New Zealand team.

Ian Botham, the former England all-rounder cricketer named Friday’s heavy defeat in Wellington as the worst One Day International performance he had seen in forty years of playing for and watching England.

On Sunday Preston Mommsen quoted saying reporters: “Obviously, it is a good time to be playing them, but at the same time, we’re pretty focused on our own game, and that’s been the mindset over the last couple of days in the preparation leading up to the game tomorrow.

Sensational spell of swing bowling from Tim Southee mesmerized everyone, who got 7 wickets for 33 runs, the 3rd best World Cup return of all-time.

But someone who was not mesmerized was Grant Bradburn, the Scotland coach, who coached Tim Southee at New Zealand’s Northern Knights domestic squad.

He said that having coached the Knights and having Tim Southee and Trent Boult in that abode for a number of years, he was not stunned. He added that they are good bowlers at the top of their match.

He concluded saying that they do not read too much into the actual scores, what England scored and what they scored.
