Reliance ICC Batsmen’s ranking in the 50-over format has been summarised here with a special mention of their current form and chance of change in the ranks. Have a look into the Top 10 batsmen of the ODI format.
1. Hashim Amla (South Africa): 853 points
The South African opener has been nothing but consistent for the past two years and he finds himself on the top of the chart with a points rating of 853 points. He has a career best rating of 901 points which he accumulated in 2012. His position at the top is quite unchallenged for now with South African leading the second placed compatriot by 8 rating points.
2. AB de Villiers (South Africa): 845 points
The South African skipper has been the run scoring machine for South Africa. His consistency with the bat has won them many matches and he has a good ODI batting average of 50.57. With his muscular frame which can clear the boundary with ease and his modern day batting skills is an added bonus to his arsenal. The South African skipper is at second spot behind his team mate.
3. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka): 829 points
The Sri Lankan former skipper is at number 3 spot behind the two South African batsmen. The wicket keeper batsmen form has been top notch and even when the whole team has failed collectively, he has amazed run with ease. He is though way back behind De Villiers and there is a possible threat from Virat Kohli who is on a good run in the Australian series.
4. Virat Kohli (India): 819 points
The Indian vice captain has done the bulk of scoring for India in the past two years and as a result finds himself in the fourth spot in the ICC rankings. The young batsmen have been in red hot form in the Australian series and will have a few rises in the points in the rating. If he finish as the tournaments best scorer he fill find himself in 3rd spot.
5. Jonathan Trott (England): 754 points
The English batsman is at a distant fifth. His form has slumped a little from the champion’s trophy and has dropped a few points. A consistent run will find him improve the ratings as well as do a lot of good to the England team.
6. Tillakratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka): 746 points
The Sri Lankan all rounder who quit his test career recently to concentrate more on the shorter format of the game is at sixth spot in ICC batsmen ranking. His recent hundreds have earned him few points but he needs to be more consistent to rise up in the ladder.
7. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (India): 741 points
The Indian skipper who made a fine 136* against Australia in the ongoing series will be gaining some points when the new rankings are released. He will probably dethrone Dilshan and with few more good innings will take him ahead of the English batsmen J. Trott.
8. Misbah-ul-Haq (Pakistan): 722 points
The Pakistani skipper who has been doing the loads of scoring for the Pakistan team in recent tour has dropped a few points after the Zimbabwe series. His consistent performance has been appreciated with points raise.
9. George Bailey (Australia): 714 points
The Australian skipper fine form has continued into the Indian tour where he has scored 2 half centuries in 3 matches. His form with the bat has seen him break into the top 10 rankings and with the recent performance, he is all set to gain few more credits to his account which will see him raise above Misbah.
10. Shane Watson (Australia): 699 points
The Australian all rounder who has been a hit and miss in recent times finds himself at the 10th place in the ranking. If he fails to get some big knocks behind his name in the ongoing series he will drop few places in the ranking and will find himself outside the top 10.
