In the latest ICC ODI Rankings for the bowlers, New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi and Lockie Ferguson gained rating points. Meanwhile, captain Kane Williamson slipped out of the top ten. Also, Sri Lanka’s captain in ODI’s, Lasith Malinga rose on the points table as well. Among the other batsmen, Thisara Perera and the last-match centurion, Henry Nicholls move up on the chart.
Sodhi and Ferguson are joint-holders
Eight and seven wickets in three games for Sodhi and Ferguson, respectively helped them sit at the 31st position in the rankings. Though the leg-spinner climbed up 26 slots, pacer Ferguson lifted 12 places to a career-best position. For Malinga, the veteran bagged seven wickets and rose three places spots to 46th. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah tops the list of the ICC ODI Rankings for the bowlers.
Among the batsmen, opener Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor retained their respective places, third and 14th on the chart. Guptill in three games hit 153 runs, whereas, Taylor scored 281 runs. Centurion in the final ODI against Sri Lanka, Henry Nicholls also climbed up 29 places to take the 59th position. Meanwhile, opener Colin Munro moved up two spots, from 58th to 56th.
The list which is topped by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma saw Sri Lanka batting pair of Niroshan Dickwella and Thisara Perera move up the ladder. Alongside them, Kusal Perera gained some points too. Dickwella is one place up to 26th; while Thisara Perera, who scored a magnificent 140 off 74 balls in the 2nd ODI, saw him rise 22 spots to 65th position.
Changes in team ratings as well
New Zealand who blanked their opposition earned one point and retained their third place. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, dropped a point and is uncomfortably sitting at the eighth spot on the ICC ODI Rankings for teams. Meanwhile, England heads the chart with 126 points, while, India is second on the list with 121.
