The fast bowler from Australia, Megan Schutt has leapfrogged to the top position in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings.
Meanwhile, Schutt finds herself in the top spot after a brilliant performance in the tri-series.
Schutt finished with nine wickets in the tournament including three for 14 in the final against England. Australia banked on Schutt’s effort to dominate the tri-series in India.
Meanwhile, Schutt held this position briefly last year, having been at the top of the rankings between 19 and 21 November 2017.
The latest rankings take into account the recently concluded Sri Lanka-Pakistan series and New Zealand-Windies series. New Zealand’s Leigh Kasperek is another major gainer.
The off-spinner jumped seven places to be at the second spot after finishing with ten wickets in the series. Meanwhile, Kasperek’s previous best was the fourth position in November last year.
India leg-spinner Poonam Yadav (up six places to a career-best fifth ranking), Pakistan off-spinner Nida Dar (up four places to 13th) and Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Sugandika Kumari (up 18 places to 24th) are the others to move up in the list of bowlers.
Meanwhile, among the batters, Australia captain Meg Lanning has gained one slot to take the third position. She scored 175 runs in the tri-series including a blistering 88 in the final.
Beth Mooney (up three places to fourth), India opener Smriti Mandhana (up 13 places to a career-best seventh position), Windies’ Hayley Matthews (up four places to 15th) and Pakistan’s Javeria Khan (up two places to 22nd) are the others to make significant gains.
However, Australia (132) tops the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s Team Rankings, which take into account results across formats.
Further, England (127), New Zealand (121), and India (113) follows Australia.
