After a magical spell of 7/42 in the 3rd and the deciding Test against the Windies at Lord’s, English speedster James Anderson has got back to the numero uno position in the latest ICC Rankings, by going past India spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Despite being in the twilight stage of his career, Anderson has gone on to produce some magical spells in the recent past and has regained back his rhythm and is raring to finish his illustrious career on a high.

He was not at his very best during the home season earlier in the season, especially after suffering injuries. He also became the first English bowler to bag 500 wickets and also the 3rd pacer overall after Courtney Walsh and Glenn McGrath to achieve this feat. He has arguably been one of the greatest ever bowlers England have ever produced and by the time he calls it quits.

Anderson is arguably one of the most skilful bowlers to have ever graced the game, and with the form, he is showing in the recent past it doesn’t look like he will wear down soon enough. His next record in sights is to become the leading wicket taker among Pacers in Test cricket, and the speedster has McGrath within sights with 562 scalps to his name.

Bursting on to the scene in 2003, Anderson has matured like fine wine and has been the spearhead of the English attack for a long time now. Over the years he has cut down on pace but his maturity to deliver in crunch situations has increased just that much more. Anderson who is not in the scheme of things in the limited-overs team anymore was also an impressive ODI bowler and has bagged 269 wickets in 194 matches.

He might be in the evening stage of his career, but Anderson would like to feel that he still some good years left ahead of him and will look to give his best shot in the final phase of his career.
