ICC says they will not interfere at BCCI's issue with Lodha recommendations 1

A day after justice RM Lodha asked for a panel of administrators to take over  BCCI administration to  ensure a smooth implementation of its recommendations, the International Cricket Council (ICC), the game’s world governing body, termed the development as they Board’s ‘internal’ matter.

“This is a domestic matter of the BCCI and the ICC neither gets involved nor offers comments on internal matters of a member board,” an ICC spokesperson told HT on Thursday.

ICC said that they will assess the situation following the Supreme Court announcement. Under Article 2.7 (D), the ICC can suspend a member that loses its status as the governing body responsible for administration, management, and development of cricket in a country.

In the past, BCCI president Anurag Thakur  had approached the ICC for its advice, saying intervention by the Indian Supreme Court amounted to government interference under article 2.9 (B) of ICC’s rulebook.

The Supreme Court already gave BCCI an ultimatum to implement the recommendations and if they defy the order so Supreme Court will dismantle will entire administrative system.

The Lodha panel was appointed by the apex court following the conflict of interest case at BCI and many flawed activities found at BCCI, so the apex court took an initiative to make the Indian government   registered  society.
