India continued their domination going in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2020 as they defeated Sri Lanka in their fourth group match by seven wickets. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and decided to bat first. The Island nation posted 113-9 in their allotted 20 overs with their skipper Chamari Athapaththu top-scoring with 33 runs.
However, the total was not enough as the Indian team chased it down with ease. Shafali Verma, the 16-year old prodigy batswoman continued his sublime form going as she scored a blistering knock of 47 runs off just 34 balls. The right-hander’s knock was laced with seven fours and one six as she continued her clean-striking.

But Shafali once again failed to cross the fifty run-mark as she was run-out after a miscommunication with Jemimah Rodrigues. Smriti Mandhana scored 17 runs and added 34 runs with her opening partner.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur continued her dismal form as she was dismissed after scoring 15 runs. But Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma made sure India didn’t suffer any more damage in the wickets column as both of them scored 15 runs each. However, Sri Lanka was sloppy in the field as they bungled as many as seven catches.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka was not able to put up a valiant effort with the bat. The island nation could not get off to a good start as they lost the wicket of their opener Umesha Thimashini for only two runs. Subsequently, Harshita Madavi was dismissed for 12 runs by Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
India’s left-arm spinner Radha Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers as she scalped four wickets. Yadav breathed down the wicket of the Sri Lankan batters and bowled accurately throughout the innings and was awarded the Player of the match. Rajeshwari Gayakwad scalped two wickets whereas Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, and Poonam Yadav took one wicket each.
