The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Tuesday, announced the schedule for the qualifying events for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The event will be the biggest Men’s T20 World Cup so far.
A record 20 teams will fight it out for the World Cup. The venue for the competition is the West Indies and the USA. The eight top-performing teams at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia alongside hosts USA and West Indies will automatically qualify for the 2024 edition of the marquee tournament.
The next highest-ranked teams in the ICC T20I Team Rankings as of 14 November 2022 will make up the 12 automatic qualifying spots. The remaining eight spots will be filled by the teams fighting it out in the qualification events.

Regional qualifiers to decide 8 participants of ICC T20 World Cup 2024:
66 countries from across the world will be participating in the upcoming qualifiers. 14 teams from Africa, 8 teams from North and South America, 9 teams form Asia, 7 teams from East Asia and Pacific (EAP) and 28 teams from Europe will be playing the qualifiers over the next two years for the 8 available spots.
The qualifiers will see several debutants. The likes of Hungary, Romania and Serbia are all set to make their debut during the pathway events. The qualifiers will be played on a regional basis.
Africa, Americas, Asia and EAP will have two regional qualifiers each while Europe will have three regional qualifiers. Two teams from each of Africa, Asia and Europe will qualify for the event, while the Americas and EAP regions will each have one team progress to the World Cup.
