Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has entered to the top 10 positions in the Test bowling rankings for the first time. The other heroes of latest week, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes and Tom Latham all have also climbed up in their respective ICC Test players rankings.
Jasprit Bumrah bagged six wickets in the recent Antigua Test against the host side Windies. Out of those six wickets, Bumrah took five wickets in the second innings (5/7). His lethal second innings bowling helped India to bundle out the hosts for just 100 runs, and it helped India to win that Test match by 318 runs. In the latest ICC Test bowling ranking, Bumrah is in the seventh position with 774 rating points.
Meanwhile, the other Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have also climbed up in the latest ICC Test bowling rankings. Ishant Sharma bagged eight wickets in the Antigua Test, including one fifer. He is currently the 21st-ranked bowler in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
Mohammed Shami took four wickets in the Antigua Test. In the latest ICC Test bowling rankings, Shami is the 19th-ranked bowler.
Australian pacer Pat Cummins has maintained the leading position in the ICC Test bowling rankings. However, his rating points have decreased to 908. Another Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood, who took nine wickets in the Leeds Test, including one fifer in the first innings, has moved up to the 12th position.
The New Zealand left-arm pacer Trent Boult has climbed up to the fifth position in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
ICC Test batting rankings
The top five haven’t changed in the ICC Test batting rankings. Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, Kane Williamson, Cheteshwar Pujara and Henry Nicholls are in the top positions respectively. Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne, England Test captain Joe Root and New Zealand cricketer Tom Latham all have gone up to the sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively. Joe Root (77) and Tom Latham (154) both have recently played crucial match-winning innings for their respective teams.
Meanwhile, the English star Ben Stokes, who scored a magnificent 135* to secure a thrilling victory in Leeds Test, also climbed up to the 13th position in the Test batting ranking.
Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane moved up to the 11th position in the Test batting ranking. In the Antigua Test, Rahane scored the crucial match-winning 81 and 102 runs. The Indian Test vice-captain won the Player of the Match award in that game.
Ben Stokes also moved up in the all-rounder table
On the other hand, Ben Stokes has also climbed up to the second position in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. Apart from scoring eight runs and the incredible 135*, the right-arm pacer also took four wickets in that Leeds Test. Only the Windies captain Jason Holder is now ahead of Ben Stokes in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) and Ravindra Jadeja (India) both have dropped down to the third and fourth positions respectively.
