The workhorse of New Zealand Neil Wagner finally breaks into the top 5 in the Test bowlers’ ranking chart. His incredible display of fast bowling against Bangladesh gave him the career-best ranking of 5th in the list. Wagner knocks down Ravindra Jadeja to number 6 in the chart while Pat Cummins is at the top.
The 32-year-old left-arm fast bowler has not only gained six slots but also crossed the 800-point mark, becoming only the third bowler from his country to do so. Earlier, it was Trent Boult and Richard Hadlee, who achieved the feat for New Zealand.
In fact, Richard Hadlee, who is placed in the ICC hall of fame, have broked the record by bagging the points over 900 during his times. The highest attained by Trent Boult is 829 while Neil Wagner is the fresh candidate with 801 points. Tim Southee is on the cusp of it with 799 points.
The left-handed fast bowled bagged nine wickets in the Wellington Test to inspire New Zealand to an innings victory and bag the series. Now, Wagner is their top-ranked bowler while Trent Boult, who increased one rank is placed seventh on the list.
Ross Taylor moved up 11 places:
Coming to the batting chart, the recent owner of the double century Ross Taylor moved up 11 places to reach 13th position. Meanwhile, Henry Nicholls’s knock of 107 has lifted him two places to the fifth position with a career-best tally of 778 rating points.
On the other hand, the captain Kane Williamson remains their highest ranked batsman, at the second position in the list that led by India captain Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, for visitors, Mahmudullah has reached a career-best 34th position. Shadman Islam and Mohammad Mithun are the other gainers in the chart.
Apart from that, there aren’t any other changes in the Top 10 charts either in batting or bowling. Even in all-rounder chart, it remained the same with Jason Holder topping the list.
