India might have suffered one of its most humiliating defeats at home at the hands of Australia, but captain Virat Kohli hasn’t moved from his second position with 873 points in the latest ICC rankings for batsmen even after posting scores of 0 and 13 in the Pune Test.

The same story continues for his side’s ace-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who sits on the top of bowling ladder with 878 points, after bagging seven wickets in the match. Also, opener KL Rahul achieved his best ever rankings of 46, thanks to his half-century in the first innings (64) and 10 in the second one.

Apart from him, slow-left armer Ravindra Jadeja helped himself to retain the second position in bowlers ranking after registering the figures of 5/139 in the match.

Steven Smith, Australia’s captain scored a hundred in second innings of the match which saw him bench the sixth spot in all-time best Test ratings for batsmen in Tests. 639, his points reading has helped him cement the first place in Test rankings too as he stays ahead of Virat Kohli with 66 points.

Another Aussie batsman Matt Renshaw moved up 18 places to a career-best 34th spot, after posting gritty totals of 68 and 31 in the match. Stephen O’Keefe, Australia’s hero in Pune rocked up 33 slots to a career-best 29th place after figures of 12 for 70 which earned him the player of the match award.

I am more than just a cricket lover. I have been breathing this game since I was three, and now I am making a living out of it. Also, FC Barcelona happens to be my second love, and evidently, I prefer Lionel Messi over Ronaldo.
