ICC U-19 World Cup 2018: Petrus Burger, Lohan Louwrens Fire Namibia to First Win in the Tournament
Namibia beat Kenya by eight wickets in the ICC U-19 World Cup game.

Riding on Petrus Burger’s five-wicket haul and Lohan Louwrens’ century, Namibia defeated Kenya by eight wickets at Lincoln in playoff semifinal two to register their first win of the tournament.

Namibia, who had finished seventh in the last edition of the tournament, won the toss and decided to bowl first. But although the decision seemed a good one initially when Dennis Musyoka was clean bowled by Ben Shikongo, Kenya was looking set to prove it wrong by progressing to 85 for one.

Opener Aman Gandi laid the platform by scoring a half-century, but it eventually went in vain. The floodgates opened when Shaun Fouche removed Aveet Desai for 32 before Petrus Burger claimed 5 for 10 in the last five overs of his spell to dismantle the Kenyan lineup.

Burger finished the game with stunning figures of five for 24 which are the best figures by a Namibian in all U-19 ODIs.

Kenya, on the other hand, was looking primed to be dismissed for a score less than 150 but some useful contribution towards the lower-order helped them post a respectable 176.

The score, however, turned out to be too small in the end, as Namibia captain Lohan Louwrens scored a brilliant century to guide his team to a thumping win. Louwrens scored 114 before being dismissed by Abhishekh Chidambaran. His innings came off only 76 balls and was studded with 13 fours and three sixes.

Louwrens was well supported by Jurgen Linde and Sean Fouche, as Namibia chased down the total with 23 overs remaining.

Namibia 180 for 2 (Louwrens 114) beat Kenya 176 for 10 (Gandhi 52; Burger 5-24) by eight wickets.
