Recently, the Indian team management sought to deny a media report about their Chief Coach, Duncan Fletcher being ignored meetings and it was also reported that he was not being kept in the loop about team strategy.

The Indian team took a day-off and players were being left on their own to relax. Also, there were reports which pointed of the fact that the team’s support staff, led by the director of the team, Ravi Shastri, had an impromptu meeting at the team hotel “Langham” and Fletcher was not informed about it.

The team’s media manager, Dr. R N Baba, however assured of the fact tat there was no meeting which was being held. Also he added that there is absolutely no truth that Duncan was not kept in the loop about a meeting of the support staff. He also stated that this can be taken as a figment of imagination.

Since Ravi Shastri’s inclusion to the Indian team management from the England tour, the general notion has been that it is kind of move by the BCCI to clip the wings of Fletcher after the team performed poorly in the overseas over a prolonged period of time.

In fact, according to the sources of the Indian team, the bowling coach, Bharath Arun and the fielding coach of the team, R Sridhar went to meet their common friend in the evening and that was when the so called meeting of the support staff without Duncan Fletcher was reported to be held.

A BCCI official straightaway declined the truth of the rumour and he countered by asking whether people seriously think that Fletcher needs to be sidelined by the application of such kinds of childish tricks.

Reportedly, Fletcher has a contract till the end of the World Cup and that is just a month left. It seems quite obvious that he would not seek for an extension to it.
