South Africa’s left-handed duo David Miller and JP Duminy on February 15th, 2015 created a world record of the highest fifth wicket partnership in ODIs. They achieved this feat against Zimbabwe in their first group stage match of the ICC World Cup 2015 at Hamilton.

At one stage, South Africa were struggling at 83/4 and then Miller and Duminy steadied the innings with singles and doubles. Both went 69 balls without a boundary in the middle-overs before changing gears from the 32nd over. They blunted some balls that held onto a slow pitch, pinched singles off others to push the run rate higher, and eventually ended up with a world record fifth-wicket partnership of 256 off 178 balls. This was also the third highest not out partnership in ODIs.

Both Miller and Duminy brought up their hundreds which was also the third time in the ODI history that the number 5 and number 6 batsmen scored hundreds in the same innings of an ODI.
