Former England cricketer Allan Lamb has suggested Jonny Bairstow set his entire focus on cricket. Lamb’s comments came following a verbal spat between former Three Lions skipper and Bairstow in the wake up of hosts abysmal show against Sri Lanka and Australia.
“Yeah, the players will have to live with the criticism. Every player knows about it. They have created a lot of pressure on themselves. England have played very badly in their last two games. They know that they have underperformed. That is the bottom line,” Lamb told the Mirror.
According to Vaughan, there’s chaos in the English set-up. Apart from the verbal slugfest, prominent English batsman Lamb conceded that it’s plain to understand if a player would fail to deliver, he is bound to face criticism from all quarters.
“As a player, you all know and understand that you can get criticised if you underperform. That’s what England have done – underperform,” Lamb elaborated.
Allan Lamb wants Jonny Bairstow to deliver with the bat:

Furthermore, the South Africa-born Lamb further urged Bairstow to make his bat respond. He believes that the move will allow people to write good stuff about the English team.
“He (Bairstow) must keep quiet, and just get on with the game and make the bat do the talking. Then people will write good things. If you have not performed, the papers are going to give you the stick,” Lamb added.
Earlier, the situation worsened when Bairstow maintained cricketer-turned-commentators were keen to lambast the team by wanting the team to lose the contest at the World Cup.
“People were waiting for us to fail. They are not willing us on to win, in many ways, they are waiting for you to get that loss, so they can jump on your throat. It’s just showbiz, they are paid to have an opinion. And if they don’t have an opinion they get sacked,” Bairstow said.
To which Vaughan replied, that Bairstow is pessimistic in approach. The 2005 Ashes-winning skipper Vaughan also maintained he’s concerned about the negative attitude from a player of a team which has a lot of backing. He further addressed as a ‘turmoil’ for English cricket.
“This is looking like turmoil for England. I’ve been involved in a couple of atrocious World Cups. If they’re not careful, this could turn out to be top of the tree,” Vaughan told BBC.
So much so, both are from Yorkshire.
Vaughan calls it ‘disappointing’ show:

While also speaking about England’s three losses which came against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia, Vaughan asserted that what’s unfolding on media is because of the string of defeats.
“How wrong can @jbairstow21be. Never has an England team had so much support but it’s you and your team that has disappointed Jonny. WIN 2 games and you are in the semis. With this negative, pathetic mindset I am concerned though. It’s not the media’s fault you have lost 3 games!!!” he wrote.
The saga unfolded when Vaughan maintained England could have got a nightmare at the World Cup.
Earlier, former batsman Kevin Pietersen alleged that Eoin Morgan is pretty ‘scared’.
Meanwhile, Lamb concluded by saying the duo hold the right by having a saying. Lamb has featured in 122 ODIs and 79 Tests between 1982 and 1992.
