ICC World Cup 2019: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Will Be Out For 2-3 Games – Virat Kohli
Once again, the Indian National Cricket Team dented with a major blow, as the fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar ruled out for at least 2 to 3 games in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The skipper Virat Kohli revealed that the injury wasn’t a major one, which is a piece of good news for the team.
Despite carrying a poor form, the flamboyant cricketer was picked ahead of Mohammed Shami in the games so far. However, he lived up to the expectations of the skipper by performing brilliantly in all the games. In fact, he was the chief destroyer when India won the game against Australia.
During the game against Pakistan on Sunday, the right-handed swing master Bhuvneshwar Kumar has pulled up his Hamstring after landing in one of the potholes near the crease. He was immediately taken off the field and was attended by the Indian physio Patrick Farhat in the dressing room.
Slight niggle for Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Virat Kohli
Revealing the impact of the injury, the skipper Virat Kohli quoted that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has suffered a slight niggle, which would put him away from the playing XI for at least a couple of games or even three.
However, Virat Kohli isn’t worried about that, as the team got the able-replacement in the form of Mohammed Shami. He believes that Shami would do the job for the team in Kumar’s absence.
“Slight niggle for Bhuvi, he slipped on one of the footmarks. He’s out for two, maybe three games, but he should come back for us at some stage during this tournament. He is very important for us,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony on Sunday.
This is India’s second jolt in the tournament. Earlier, they lost the services of Shikhar Dhawan for at least 12 days of time owing to Finger Injury. They asked KL Rahul to open the innings in absence of Shikhar Dhawan while Vijay Shankar made his debut for India in World Cup.
India’s next three games are against Afghanistan (June 22), West Indies (June 27) and England (June 30). It would be interesting to see whether Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan gets ready for England clash or not.
