The former Englishman Graeme Swann showered words of praise on the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli for his style of play. He termed Virat Kohli as the modern-day Jesus for playing the game in the right spirit. Graeme Swann impressed with the Indian skipper for walking off the field when he felt that he got a nick on the bat.

Swann lashed out at the cricketers, who doesn’t walk even when he knew that he edged the ball. Graeme Swann believes that is equal to cheating, as you know that was out but still trying to get a chance from the umpire is unacceptable.

Recently, we came across the Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson, who is the brand ambassador of the game has refused to walk even after edging the ball. As Proteas missed it, he went on to play match-winning knock for the team.

But, in the case of Virat Kohli, it was completely different. He was batting at 77 during the ICC World Cup encounter between India and Pakistan on Sunday. It looked like the Indian cricket team skipper was heading towards another brilliant ODI century. However, he lashed wildly at a bouncer from Mohammad Amr in the 48th over and the Pakistan fielders all went up in appeal.

If you are not walking, you are cheating –

The umpire was not moved by the appeals but Kohli decided to walk back as he was sure that he had nicked the ball. It is not common for batsmen to just walk against the umpire’s decision but Kohli seemed convinced. But, the replays suggested that there was nothing on the Snicko.

Graeme Swann believes that was a pure class and honesty from Virat Kohli, who thought that he nicked it and walked off. Swann also termed that Virat Kohli is his favourite person at the moment.

“I’ve always hated non-walkers. I’ve had am argument with every batsmen in the game. If you nick it and you stand there, you know you’ve nicked it. And you know you’re out and if you use the excuse ‘oh I’m letting the umpire decide whether I have or not’, you’re still cheating,” said Graeme Swann.

“You’re cheating yourself more than anything. Virat walked off and it turned out he didn’t even nick it. So he’s that honest. He’s given himself out when he’s even not. Honestly, he is a modern day Jesus,” he added.
