Well, Pakistan has always been one of those teams, who stays in the chat of the experts and the fans. Once again, they are in a similar situation, which is for their qualification in the ICC World Cup 2019 semifinals. Despite England winning the game against New Zealand, they still got the chance to make their way into the final-four stage.
Now, Pakistan can reach a maximum of 11 points if they beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday. This will mean that have they have the same number of points and victories as New Zealand at the end of the league stage.
Pakistan needs to bat first:
The clincher will then be Net-Run-Rate. And if that’s the case, Kane Williamson and Co are all but certain to go through.
The first and foremost thing to do for Pakistan is to win the toss and elect to bat first. If they lose the toss or by any chance if Bangladesh gets to bat first, then, Pakistan will be losing their chance straight away.
However, even if they bat first, it is not going to be that easy for the team. Firstly, they need to score a massive tally at any cost to defeat Bangladesh by a huge margin.
Currently, Pakistan run-rate is -0.792 and the Kiwis has got +0.175 -a huge margin, and for Pakistan to overturn the run-rate, they will have to beat Bangladesh by at least 308 runs.
Bat first:
– Score at least 308 runs, dismiss Ban for 0 & win by 308 runs. If they score <308, they can’t qualify.
– Score 350, win by 312 runs
– Score 400, win by 316 runs
Bowl first:
- Straightaway loses its chance
For Pakistan to qualify:
Bat first:
– Score at least 308 runs, dismiss Ban for 0 & win by 308 runs. If they score <308, they can't qualify.
– Score 350, win by 312 runs
– Score 400, win by 316 runsBat second:
Can't qualify. No team has won by 300+ runs in ODI history!!
